To me, a photograph is a 'picture' just as a painting, drawing or montage is. It is not necessarily art - it can be a family snapshot, a fashion image, a news photo, or many other things. I think in terms of picture, and sometimes that means it is a straightforward photograph, sometimes an enhanced fantasy image, sometimes a wholly virtual image, and sometimes a composite. It is the resulting picture that gives me pleasure, not the pure and dedicated 'art of photography.'
Mostly I work with landscapes and people, though rarely people in landscapes. And I prefer candid pictures of people to formal portraits - simply snapshots of people being themselves and doing their thing. I am happy to take on commissions, as long as they are not weddings or formal portraits :-)
